About Us

At Next Stage Preservation Foundation (NSPF), we believe historic theaters are more than just buildings; they are living monuments to our cultural heritage and vital community gathering spaces. Our mission is to invest in the preservation and revitalization of these iconic structures in rural America, ensuring that they continue to enrich the lives of generations to come.

Our Mission

  • To identify historic theaters in rural cities of up to 10,000 residents that are in need of financial investment and/or preservation expertise. On rare occasions we may acquire the property, too.
  • To partner with rural communities and organizations to develop sustainable business models to ensure the long-term success of these theaters.
  • To restore and renovate these theaters to their former glory, preserving their unique architectural features and historical significance.
  • To assist with programing a diverse range of theatrical productions, educational programs, and community events that reflect the rich cultural heritage of each theater and its surrounding community.

Our Vision

We envision a future where historic theaters are once again thriving cultural hubs that contribute to the economic vitality and social fabric of their rural communities. We believe that by investing in these iconic structures, we are investing in the future of American culture.

Our Values

  • Preservation: We are committed to preserving the historical integrity and architectural significance of each theater we’re involved with.
  • Community: We believe local communities are essential partners in the revitalization of their historic theaters.
  • Sustainability: We strive to develop business models that ensure the long-term financial viability of each theater.
  • Diversity: We are committed to helping to program a diverse range of productions and events that reflect the rich cultural heritage of each community.

Our Commitment

NSPF is dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of historic rural theaters. We believe these theaters are not only cultural treasures but also valuable economic assets that can contribute to the revitalization of their communities.

And hey, who knows, maybe we’ll even find a few ghosts along the way. After all, every good theater has a few stories to tell!
